MY PERMANENT GELLI PLATE RECIPE

8 tablespoons gelatine (one full container of McCormacks Gelatine) 2 tablespoons per cup liquid

mixed into 1 cup glycerine and 1 cup rubbing alcohol (Isopropyl is available at Supermarket)

Add 1 cup boiling water and stir to combine, then add 1 cup cold water and stir. Microwave until clear in a glass bowl (30 secs at a time, do not boil as this will make a huge sticky mess). It will become very hot, so take care. Pour into a flat based plastic container and leave uncovered on a flat surface until set. Make sure the plate is at least 1cm deep. Measure out the liquid into the container before you start to make sure.

DO NOT PUT RESIDUE DOWN THE SINK.

When set, remove by running your finger over the corner of the plate and lift to slide your other hand underneath.  Place the plate on the upturned lid of the container, then place the container over the top to protect it.

Mine is in a lidded plastic container.  About 12cm square or two smaller plates.

WORBLA CUFFS
WITH SARA FEENY-MARKS

 An introduction to WORBLA.

Everyone's favourite cosplay prop and armour making thermoplastic!

It becomes flexible and malleable once heated and can be formed to a foam base or straight into whatever shape you want. Once it's completely cooled, it will retain its shape! Better yet, it can be heated as many times as you would like until you are happy with the final shape. Some of its best features are that it's self-adhesive when hot and stretches in all directions allowing you to create complex shapes. The offcuts can be heated up and used to sculpt details, so there is no wastage! You can also easily fill in any gaps and cut off any excess making it a very beginner-friendly and forgiving product.

You can also use it to cover foam props and armour to provide a durable layer on the outside to protect the pieces and extend the number of times they can be used.

COSCLAY HALF DOLL.... PLUG IT !!!
WITH LARA LE REVEUR

In this class we will create a half-doll that will attach to a vessel, as the base or stand.

Using traditional dollmaking techniques, we'll sculpt a head, torso and arms for our dolls which we will then paint and assemble ready to be wigged and dressed.

My doll is about 14 cm high from the top of the head to the base plug. She has painted eyes and movability at the neck and elbows. She sits on an old vintage glass lampshade with a 4cm hole in the top. I have lightly stuffed the lampshade with red fabric to emphasise the volume and shape. These dolls are perfect for storing keepsakes, and the base doesn’t need to be transparent.

You will be taught how to scale your own doll to suit your vessel, using principles of proportion in your design. As we are time and space restricted, sadly we can’t go too large with the dolls in the class. You will learn how to get the best results from the fabulous CosClay and discover its wonderful flexibility and strength.
